The Spikes are involved in several community and school-related programs designed to help the franchise give back to the Central and
Western Pennsylvania region. Below is an overview of several of the community programs the club is involved with:
Take-A-Seat Program
This season, the Spikes will implement a ticket donation program for full season ticket holders who know in advance that they cannot attend a specific home game. The Take-A-Seat Program is designed to help Spikes Season Ticket Holders help others. Here's how it works. If you know that you will not be able to attend a certain game, or if you just feel like donating game tickets for those less fortunate, simply contact the Spikes front office and let us know that you would like to donate your tickets to the Take-A-Seat Program. We’ll help you select a charity or organization and you’ll simply turn-in your un-used tickets to our office. We’ll hold them for your Take-A-Seat guests who will pick them up when they arrive at the ballpark. If you have an organization that you would like to have added to our list, please let us know! Get your copy of this list by by contacting the Spikes front office. For more information, please contact Jen Orlando, Community Relations Manager, at (814) 272 - 1711 ext.331 or e-mail her at jorlando@statecollegespikes.com.
Spikes Player and Mascot Appearances
Spikes players, mascots and staff are available for non-profit organizations for appearances free of charge. They are also available for businesses or other private parties for an hourly fee. All appearances are based on availability--please call at least one month prior to your event to inquire about having a Spikes player, mascot or staff member at your event. Ballpark Tours/Open Houses
Your group or organization can get an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Medlar Field at
Lubrano
Park for free! Tours are subject to availability and those requesting one should call ahead 3-4 weeks in advance. To schedule your tour, please contact Jen Orlando, Community Relations Manager, at (814) 272-1711 ext. 331 or e-mail her at jorlando@statecollegespikes.com.
Spikes Open Houses are a great way to see the ballpark while giving back to your community! Spikes fans are encouraged to bring canned food/non-perishable items for the Open House in November which benefits a local soup kitchen. For December’s Open House, Spikes fans are asked to donate new/un-used/unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army. Both of these open houses include tours, refreshments, kids’ activities and mascot visits! Other open houses are held throughout the year, so be sure to check statecollegespikes.com frequently.
Concession Stand Fundraisers
Ovations, the official food service provider of the State College Spikes and the Altoona Curve, has openings during the 2006 season for volunteer groups or charitable organizations to help raise funds for their causes. Ovations offers a percentage of the net revenues to each group that volunteers at each game. A member of the knowledgeable Ovations staff will train the group, although a familiarity with food preparation is preferred but not required. Interested groups must sign up for a minimum of eight games. The higher the commitment, the better the revenue generating location or concession stand offered. Lubrano
Park , please call Yvonne Hunter at (814) 942-4010 or e-mail yhunter@ atlanticbb.net.
